  • Softball releases 2013 schedule

    Head Coach Scott Long has released the 2013 Salem College Softball Schedule The Spirits will battle Agnes Scott, Covenant, Huntingdon, Spelman, and Wesleyan for the Great South Athletic Conference Crown. The Spirits kick-off action on February 12th when they travel to William Peace in Raleigh. Click below for the complete schedule:
  • Softball set to host Fall Tournament on Saturday

    Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team is set to host a fall tournament this Saturday the 20th. The Spirits will play Averett and the North Carolina State University Club Team.
  • West Stanly High's Watkins commits to play softball at Salem

    The Salem College softball program is pleased to announce that Allie Watkins has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Watkins played softball for Coach Wesley Kidd at West Stanly High School in Locust, NC.

    The Salem College softball program is excited to announce that Rebekah Ballard has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Ballard played softball for Coach Matt Beaman at Arendell Parrott High School in Kinston, NC.
  • Softball season ends with strong Great South Tournament run

    The Salem College softball team split 2 Great South Tournament games today. The Spirits defeated Agnes Scott 6-5 in a back and forth game. They lost to Maryville 3-0 in an elimination game that ended Salem's season. The Scots went on to defeat Piedmont to head to the championship against Huntingdon tomorrow. Salem finishes their season with a 13-22 overall record.
  • Softball splits in first day at Great South Tournament

    The Salem College softball team split two games in their first ever Great South Athletic Conference Tournament today. The Spirits pulled off an upset in their first game, when they defeated Maryville 4-2. Salem dropped a 5-inning game to Piedmont, 10-1, in the second game. Their overall record is now 12-21 and they will take on Agnes Scott tomorrow in an elimination game at 11:00 am.
  • Softball earns 8 end of the year Great South honors

    The Salem College softball team had 8 players earn end of the year honors by the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC). The Spirits had 3 players earn GSAC All-Conference honors and 3 earn GSAC All-Freshmen honors, while 2 more earned all-academic honors. The Spirits are set to play in the conference tournament starting tomorrow at Maryville.
  • Softball set to play in Great South Quarterfinals at Maryville

    The Salem College softball team is set to play in their first ever Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) Tournament this Friday at Maryville. Salem will play as the sixth seed against Maryville, who will be the third seed.
  • Settles throws no-hitter in softball doubleheader wins against Wesleyan

    Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) pitched a no-hitter in game 1 of a doubleheader against Great South foe Wesleyan College. Settles pitched in both 5 inning victories for Salem. In the first game the Spirits won 8-0, and they took the second game 11-2. Salem ends the regular season with an 11-20 record, while Wesleyan finishes with a 4-21 record.
  • Softball earns conference split with Covenant at home

    The Salem College softball team earned a split with Covenant College today at home in a Great South conference doubleheader.
  • Softball drops doubleheader at home against Piedmont
    April 12, 2012
    The Salem College softball team dropped two games today to Piedmont College in Great South play. The Spirits kept it close through all 7 innings in a 3-0 loss in the first game. In the second game, the Lions broke it open early for a 13-1 victory. Salem falls to 4-8 in conference play and 8-19 overall.
  • McDowell High's Davidson commits to play softball at Salem

    The Salem College softball program is excited to announce that Sydney Davidson has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Davidson played softball for Coach Bill Taylor at McDowell High School in Marion, NC.
  • Softball sets scoring record in series split in Georgia this weekend

    The Salem College softball team heavily defeated Spelman College twice on Saturday, before dropping a doubleheader to Agnes Scott today in Great South action in Georgia. The Spirits set a single-game scoring record with a 23-0 victory against Spelman, and they also defeated the Jaguars 18-2. Salem dropped two games today to Agnes Scott 4-2 and 10-0. The Spirits overall record improves to 8-17 overall and they are now 4-6 in the Great South.
  • Softball loses upset bid to Methodist 7-5

    The Salem College softball team almost pulled off an upset against Methodist University tonight. The Spirits were up 5-0 in the sixth before Methodist scored 7 unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Spirits fall to 6-15 and Methodist improves to 19-6.
  • Softball picks up important split with Maryville at home

    The Salem College softball team picked up an important Great South split with Maryville College today at home. In the doubleheader, Salem won the first game 5-3 and fell 7-2 in the second game. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) finished with 3 hits in the 2 games for the Spirits. Salem improves to 6-14 overall and 2-4 in the Great South.
  • Softball picks up first ever Great South win in split with LaGrange

    The Salem College softball team picked up their first Great South win in the NCAA era with a 5-4 win against LaGrange. The Spirits lost in their first game of the day to the Panthers 10-6. Salem improves to 5-13 overall and 1-3 in the Great South after today.
  • Softball loses first two Great South games at Huntingdon

    The Salem College softball team played their first Great South games ever today in Alabama. The team came up short 9-1 in both games. Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) led the Spirits with 2 hits on the day. Salem drops to 0-2 in the GSAC and 4-12 overall, while Huntingdon improved to 2-1 and 10-7 overall.
  • Bass hits walk-off home run to propel softball to split with Guilford
    March 14, 2012
    The Salem College softball team split a home doubleheader with Guilford College today. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) hit a walk-off home run in the second game to give Salem the 4-3 win. Guilford took the first game 11-2 in 5 innings. Salem improves to 4-10 after today's games, and Guilford is now 10-4.
  • Softball drops two games on road at North Carolina Wesleyan

    The Salem College softball team lost two non-conference road games today at North Carolina Wesleyan. The Spirits lost 8-0 in the first game, and dropped the second game 10-1. Salem falls to 3-9 overall on the season.

    The Salem College softball team went out to dinner with six physically and mentally challenged students this week during a dinner sponsored by the Special Olympics of Forsyth County.
  • Softball splits doubleheader with Emory and Henry at home

    The Salem College softball team split a doubleheader with the Wasps of Emory and Henry. The Spirits used a 7 run inning to propel the team to a 7-4 victory, before they dropped the second game 13-0. Abby Settles (Reidsville, NC) recorded 11 strikeouts in the win. Salem's record now stands at 3-7 overall this season.
  • Softball drops last two games at Triangle Classic

    The Salem College softball team lost their final 2 games at the Triangle Classic against St. Augustine and Meredith College today. The Spirits fell in a close 5-3 game to St. Augustine, and they lost to Meredith 13-0. Salem falls to 2-6, while St. Augustine improves to 2-11 and Meredith to 4-4.
  • Softball drops two close games at first day of Triangle Classic

    The Salem College softball team lost their first two road games of the year today at the Triangle Classic hosted by William Peace University and Meredith College. Salem lost to Mary Baldwin College in the first game 6-3, and they lost to William Peace in their afternoon game 4-3. The Spirits season record falls to 2-4.
  • Softball uses another rally to split series with Averett

    Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team used another late rally to split their home series with Averett University today. After losing 17-1 in the first game, Salem rallied from a 7-1 deficit to defeat the Cougars (10-9) in the second game. The Spirits improve to 2-2, and Averett is now 1-3 for the season.
  • Softball Ends First Day of NCAA Play with Exciting Win

    The Salem College softball team began their NCAA era with an exciting come from behind victory against William Peace University in the second game of the double-header. Salem College President Susan Pauly started off the day by throwing out the first pitch to Amber Bass (Clinton, NC). After losing the first game 2-0 to the Pacers, Salem used a 12 run inning to erase a 12 run deficit on route to winning the second game 19-18. Salem's record currently stands at 1-1, and Peace holds a 3-3 record.
  • Sunday's softball game against Averett postponed to Tuesday

    Tomorrow's softball home double header against Averett University has been postponed until Tuesday, February 21st. The games will be played at 3:00 and 5:00 at Blixt Field.
