Basketball Wins USA South Game Against Methodist

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team used double-digit scoring from five different players to cruise to a win against Methodist in USA South home action. Hannah McBride finished with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead Salem. The Spirits improve to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the USA South, while Methodist falls to 1-10 and 1-3.

The first quarter was the only close quarter of the game as Salem jumped out to a 20-18 lead. The Spirits held Methodist to just 8 second quarter points and went into the break with a 39-26 advantage. The Monarchs were able to cut into the lead in the third quarter, but Salem dropped 28 fourth quarter points for the win.

Sabrina Shepherd had a team high 17 points, while Tyler Davenport (14), Mikayla Seivers (12), and Shenell Pharr (11) also had double-digit points. Aaliyah Webb led the team with 4 steals and Seivers led the Spirits with 6 assists.

Salem returns to action tomorrow at home in another important USA South East Division game against NC Wesleyan at 2:00.
