Spirits Face Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan; Fall 58-89

Rocky Mount, NC- Salem Spirits traveled down the road to face conference foe, NC Wesleyan Sunday afternoon in their second game in back to back days.  The Spirits were unable to match the Battling Bishops offensive energy, as they dropped the contest in a final score of 58-89.

Salem attempted 78 field goals on the day, but were only able to convert on 18 of them.  Spirits were short-handed on the day, only playing eight players.  Their offensive attack was led by the senior trio of Taylor Mabe scoring 18, Aaliyah Webb with 16 points, and Tamara Blanton chipped in 12 points.

In contrast, NC Wesleyan attempted 88 field goals and made 36. Every player that entered the game for the Battling Bishops recorded at least one made basket.  Reserves Javana Jones and Cydney Nichols led the way with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Spirits will take a break from conference play as they travel to take on Johnson & Wales (NC) Tuesday, January 29th. Game is slated for a 6:00pm tip-off.
