Lacrosse Picks Up First USA South Win

Rocky Mount, NC-The Salem College lacrosse team picked up their second win in school history and their first ever USA South win at NC Wesleyan as they held on for the 13-12 win. Collette Vladimery finished with a team-high 5 goals. Salem is now 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the USA South, while the Battling Bishops fall to 1-11 and 0-5. 

Salem fought back from a 2-0 deficit to score 4 straight goals in 7 minutes in the first half. The Spirits finished with a 6-5 lead at the half. They scored the first 3 goals of the second half and held a 9-5 lead. Wesleyan closed the gap to 12-11, with just minutes remaining. Madison McCarthy scored the game winning goal with 3:25 left and the Spirits held on for the win. 

McCarthy finished with 4 goals for Salem. Vladimery had 16 shots, while Cecily Wainschel and Logan Bowling each had 4 ground balls. Hannah Ostlund had 14 saves in the goal.

Salem will travel to Greensboro this weekend for another conference game.
