THE GAME:

DEMOREST, Ga — The Salem Spirits lacrosse team came up short with 16-3 loss to the Piedmont Lions Saturday evening.

"The team played with determination, heart, and grit this weekend facing these two teams," Interim Head Coach Emma Rose said. "We will continue to put the pieces together and keep working hard for next week."

It was the first USA South Athletic Conference game for the Spirts and the first loss, after getting outshot 47-8.

After two early goals by Piedmont, Salem held its own for 10 minutes with neither team able to score.

With 5 seconds left on the clock before the half, Senior Logan Bowling found the back of the net to get Salem on the board.

Salem would go on to score two more goals, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Lions.
