STORY IN BRIEF

LYNCHBURG, Va. — While the Salem Spirits Lacrosse Team wasn't able to catch up with Randolph College Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game on the road, Salem's Rayven Shepard scored two unassisted back-to-back goals.

The final score was 15-5, which improved Randolph's record to 2-3 overall. Salem fell to 1-8.

Salem's Interim Head Lacrosse Coach Emma Rose said her developing team never gives up no matter the score.

"I am proud of the team for facing adversity and continuing to give maximum energy and effort," Rose said.

In the first half, the Spirits closed the game within one point with back-to-back tallies from goals by Cecilly Wainschel followed by another from Rayven Shepard. But at the end of the half, Randolph rattled off four straight goals for a halftime score of 8-3.

Despite two more goals in the second half, Salem just couldn't catch up as Randolph racked up another 7 tallies.
