Soccer opens season with 5-0 win

Cincinnati, OH-The Salem College soccer team cruised to an opening game victory today in Ohio. Salem used three first half goals to break the game open. Ellie Montes had a hat trick in her first collegiate game. Salem is now 1-0. 

Montes got the scoring started on a Jordan Lanier assist in the 19th minute. She scored two minutes later on a Lanier assist and Mary Ormsby scored in the 29th minute. Martha Santos scored the fourth goal for Salem early in the second half, and Montes capped off her hat trick late in the game. Salem out shot Blackburn 30-0 and had a 5-0 corner kick advantage. 

The Spirits will play the hosts of Mt. St. Joseph tomorrow.
