Salem defeats Eastern Mennonite 3-1

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team needed a half to break down Eastern Mennonite and were able to comeback for a 3-1 victory today at home. Salem scored 3 goals in the first 17 minutes of the second half to secure the victory after falling behind 1-0 at the half. Salem is now 3-1, while EMU drops to 1-1-2.

Jordan Lanier tied the game two minutes into the second half on a Brooke Bukas assist. Alyssa Denkovich ripped a shot from distance 8 minutes later. Mary Ormsby curled in a corner kick in the 63rd minute to give the Spirits at 2 goal advantage.

Hannah Bullock closed out the win for Salem in goal, after Hannah Wagner played the first 25 minutes. Salem out shot EMU 17-11, and had a 10-5 shots on goal advantage. They also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.

The Spirits will hit the road on Tuesday to take on Southern Virginia.
