WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem soccer team begins a three-match in five-day stretch on Tuesday when it heads to Western North Carolina for a clash with fellow USA South Conference member Brevard at 7 p.m.

The Spirits (2-3) are looking to return to the win column and halt a two-match losing streak after a series of setbacks last week against Agnes Scott (Sept. 8) and Randolph-Macon (Sept. 14).

Salem continues to be led offensively by the trio of Ellie Montes (eight points), Madison Green (four) and Baylee Greenwood (four). Each of the three have netted two goals on the season, but Montes has separated herself in the point total due to a team-best four assists.

Defensively, the Spirits are led by Jordan Tomberlin, with 11 saves in 295 minutes in goal. Tomberlin is responsible for both of Salem's wins, while teammate Hannah Wagner has come off the bench to contribute nine saves in 154 minutes.

Brevard (0-2-2), coming off a two overtime tie to Southern Virginia (Sept. 14), remains in search of its first win of the season under head coach Juan Mascaro. Mascaro, who is in his fourth season at the helm of the Tornados women's program, was a mentor to Salem head coach Octavia Saunders, who served as his assistant for two seasons.

The Tornados are led on offense by Kyndall Cochran, Brianna Link and Ashley Royster, responsible for one goal and two points each. Meanwhile, Emma Gooch and Abbie Petrosky have contributed one assist each. Rebeccah Rojas has made all four starts in goal for Brevard, logging 400 minutes in the process, while recording a team-best 21 saves (.778 save percentage).
