WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After posting consecutive victories against Meredith and Averett in succession, the Salem soccer team heads to Meisenheimer, N.C., on Wednesday to square off against USA South Conference foe Pfeiffer for a 6 p.m. contest.

Salem, which is 6-4-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in conference action, is in search of its longest winning streak of the season. It would mark the first time in head coach Octavia Saunders' tenure with Salem that the Spirits won three straight. The last time the Spirits posted at least three wins in a row was when they won eight straight between Sept. 23-Oct. 11.

Through the first 11 matches of the season the Spirits have notched 21 goals in 98 shots on goal (.547 SOG pct), taking 179 shots along the way. Salem has scored eight of those goals in USA South action, making 33 shots on goal (.541 SOG pct.).

Ellie Montes, with four goals and 12 points (four assists) to her credit, leads the way for the Salem lineup offensively. However, the trio of Amy Bounds, Baylee Greenwood and Martha Santos are closely behind with three goals each. Santos also has three assists over the course of the slate, giving her second-most points on the team with nine.

Hannah Wagner (4-2-1) has been an anchor for the Salem defense with 30 saves in eight matches, resulting in a .789 save percentage. She has been a part of all four Spirit shutouts this season.

Pfeiffer (7-3, 3-0 USA South) has won three straight dating back to Sept. 28 against Methodist, which resulted in a 4-1 win. The Falcons then added victories against William Peace (5-0) and Meredith (4-0) on Oct. 1 and Oct. 5, respectively.

Cayci Eaton has been the primary source of offense for Pfeiffer, scoring eight goals this season, while Gabby Bosak (four assists) and Mackenzie Pruitt (three) have been active offensively as well. Kaley Hyatt (6-2-0) serves as the primary netminder for the Falcons, making 31 saves (.816 save percentage) in 675 minutes of action.
