Salem Volleyball Set for Tri-Match at Guilford College Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Fresh off a four-set victory against USA South Conference member Brevard on Friday, Sept. 6, the Salem volleyball team heads to Greensboro this weekend for a tri-match with William Peace, Maryville and Guilford as part of the Guilford College Invitational.

The Spirits, who are 3-2 on the season, open the two-day event against William Peace when the two teams clash at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. Salem, in search of back-to-back wins for the first time in 2019, last won consecutive matches against N.C. Wesleyan (3-0) and Greensboro (3-0) on Oct. 20, 2018.

The second match of the tournament for the Spirits will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, against Maryville. The two teams square off in the 11 a.m. match, marking the third all-time meeting between the two USA South Conference programs.

Salem returns to the court at 5 p.m. to face the host Quakers. Guilford owns an 18-2 advantage in the head-to-head series since the 2008 season, winning 17 consecutive matches between 2009 and 2016. However, the two teams have split the last two matches, with Salem earning a 3-0 on Sept. 18, 2017.
