WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
The Salem volleyball team begins USA South Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 25, when it heads to Fayetteville, N.C., for a clash with Methodist at 7 p.m.

The Spirits (4-5), who are fresh off a four-set win over Piedmont International on Tuesday, Sept. 17, are in search of back-to-back wins for the first time in 2019. The last time that Salem posted consecutive wins came on Oct. 20, 2018, when the Spirits downed N.C. Wesleyan (3-0) and Greensboro (3-0) in a tri-match.

The duo of Kathryn O'Connell and Taylor Moulton, who have recorded 81 and 67 kills, respectively, lead the way for a Salem offense that has combined for 346 kills (10.48 kills / set). Teammate Hannah Delcamp, responsible for 264 assists (8.00 assists / set), has also been integral on offense for the Spirits, leading the team in assists.

O'Connell has also been active on defense for Salem, posting team highs in both digs (102) and total blocks (26), while recording 23 assisted blocks over the course of the season. The trio of O'Connell, Anna Schneider (17 total blocks) and Brooklyn Snow (13) have provided the Spirits with 47 total blocks (13 solo / 68 assisted) at a clip of 1.42 blocks per set.

Methodist (1-7) snapped a seven-match losing streak with its recent three-set victory over Regent University on Saturday, Sept. 21. Five of the seven losses suffered by the Monarchs came in three sets, including setbacks to Erskine and Bob Jones earlier this month.

The Monarchs, who have played only one match at home this season, have combined for 240 kills (8.89 kills / set), 309 digs (11.44 digs / set) and 22 blocks (0.81 blocks / set) as a unit. Individually, Methodist is led by Megan Andrews (83 kills), Lili Henry (152 assists) and Kaeli Ryan (nine blocks).
