Salisbury, N.C. - The Salem College cross country team started off the 2018 season at the Chick-fil-A Invitational where the Spirits placed eighth overall.
The Spirits were led by Jessica Bailey, who placed 21st of the 91 racers with a time of 23:15.4 in the 5k. Sophomore Una Stroszeck finished 48th, to hold two top-50 spots for the Spirits with her time of 26:51.5. Hannah Ross placed 51st with a 27:24.6 time.
The eighth place finish for Salem landed them ahead of three USA South teams NC Wesleyan, William Peace, and Averett. Competition was stiff as Salem saw racers across NCAA divisions with several DII teams competing alongside the Spirits.
