ROME, Ga. – The Salem Department of Athletics placed 35 student-athletes on the USA South 2022-23 Academic All-Conference list that was released in a statement from the league office on Monday, June 12th.

These student-athletes earned at least a 3.30 GPA in both semesters over the course of the 2022-23 academic year. In total there were 1,477 honorees across the league to earn this distinction. Furthermore, the athletes listed below with an asterisk earned at least a 3.90 GPA in each semester and collected honors with distinction. Despite not offering swimming as a conference sport, the members of the Salem swim team were also included among the honorees. 

Salem soccer had the most representatives for the Department of Athletics, placing 11 student-athletes on the list. Two of those student-athletes, Alyson Gammons and Kylie Clark, were distinguished by carrying at least a 3.90 GPA in both semesters. Additionally, both Gammons and Clark were two-sport athletes, who competed in tennis and swimming, respectively, as well.

The Salem tennis team had the second-most Academic All-Conference honorees with nine, while softball placed eight on the list. The Spirits' volleyball program capped off the 2022-23 academic year with five student-athletes recognized on the list, while both swimming and basketball added three each.

The tandem of Gammons and Clark were not the only two-sport athletes to be earn a spot among the honorees. Others included Cree Bass, who played basketball and softball, Cristina Battistini, who competed in both soccer and basketball as well as Ashley Linden, who played both soccer and tennis.
