Softball cruised to GSAC Finals

Macon, GA-The Salem College softball team blasted their way to two dominating victories on the first day of the Great South Tournament held at Wesleyan College in Georgia. Brianna Morris picked up a 10-0 win against Wesleyan and Lauryn Smith earned a 9-0 win against the top seed from Agnes Scott. The Spirits move to 19-14-2 with the two wins.

Maggie Fritts had a monster day with 2 home-runs and 6 runs batted in. She was 5 for 7 for the day. Jennifer Vitarelli picked up 4 hits and scored 4 runs. Brianna Morris also hit a home-run against Agnes Scott.

Morris gave up just 2 hits and 0 runs in 5 innings pitched against Wesleyan. Smith was dominating as she only allowed 2 hits and 0 runs in 7 innings against the first-seeded Scotties.

Salem will play the winner of the Wesleyan versus Agnes Scott in the championship round on Sunday at 1:30.
