Softball picks up two more wins

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team continued their strong offensive week with two wins over Emory & Henry. They swept the Wasps with 5-4 and 10-2 wins. Maggie Fritts led the Spirits with 4 hits. Salem improves to 16-10 with the wins.

The Spirits had to claw back from a 4-1 deficit in the first game. They scored 4 runs in the bottom of the third, and then Hannah Nolan shut the door on the Wasps for the rest of the game. Nolan threw 4 perfect innings in relief of Brianna Morris. In game 2, Salem poured on runs in the first three innings to make it a blowout. Lauryn Smith earned the win on the mound in game 2 as she allowed 0 runs on just 2 hits in 4 innings.

Fritts and Montana Lineberger had Salem's only extra base hits, when they hit doubles in game 2. Lineberger led the Spirits with 4 runs batted in for the day. Jennifer Vitarelli, Briana Crumley, Logan Bowling, and Lineberger all finished with 3 hits. Stephanie Galioto went 2 for 3 in game 2. Vitarelli and Britani Peterson each scored 3 runs for the Spirits.

Salem will return to the road next week to take on Lynchburg in Virginia.
