VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Salem basketball team received 10 point each from the trio of Savanah Atkins, Tamsi Echendu and Alize Munn, but it was overshadowed by a 30-point effort from Keagan Schwab, who led Mary Washington to a 91-48 victory when the two teams collided at the Townebank Arena on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.

Atkins closed the contest by hitting 4-of-11 from the floor along with a pair of free throws, while snatching a team-best eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Both Munn and Echendu knocked down three field goals on the afternoon.

Schwab capped off her performance by hitting 13-of-22 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers, leading the way for an Eagles unit that finished 38-of-84 (45.2%) from the field and 9-of-18 (50%) at the free throw line.

FIRST QUARTER
The Eagles stormed out to a 28-10 lead in the opening frame after hitting 13-of-23 from the field and 14 points off the hand of Schwab. Meanwhile, Salem's offense struggled to find its rhythm despite a six-point first quarter effort from Echendu. Mary Washington grabbed a 10-0 lead before Echendu put the Spirits on the board at the 7:15 mark. The lead would balloon to 17-4 before Echendu and Atkins sliced it to nine. Brooks capped off the quarter with a pair of free throws to forge Salem into double figures.

SECOND QUARTER
The scoring momentum from the first carried over into the second for the Eagles, who put up 19, stretching their lead to 47-22 at the intermission. Mary Washington received six of its 19 points off the bench from Elizabeth Dufrane, after a 2-of-3 outing from beyond the arc. She was part of a reserve unit that tallied 12 points total. Salem took advantage of five points by Munn, who was 2-of-4 from the floor, as well as four from Atkins and three by Cree Bass.

THIRD QUARTER
Mary Washington put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Salem 26-12 in the process, to post their second 20-point quarter of the contest. Sarah Nelson was the top scorer in the frame for Salem with five points to her credit, hitting a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws in the process. Meanwhile, the Eagles finished 11-of-22 (50%) as a unit from the floor and 3-of-6 (50%) from 3-point range. Schwab led the way individually with seven points while Dufrane contributed five.

FOURTH QUARTER
The most productive offensive quarter for Salem came in the fourth quarter, when the Spirits tallied 14 points. Atkins led all Salem scorers with four points, while Munn and Dionne Sampson tallied three apiece. Rileigh Weaver highlighted the Mary Washington offense with six points in the frame. Salem scored six of its 14 points at the charity stripe, three each from Munn and Sampson.
