ROME, Ga. – Salem senior center Savanah Atkins was named as a member of the 2022-23 USA South Conference All-Sportsmanship Team when the league announced its All-Conference accolades on Wednesday, February 22nd.
The All-Sportsmanship team has one representative from each of the 10 USA South Conference programs.
Atkins, who earned the first accolade in her Salem basketball career, wrapped up the season with 97 points and 88 rebounds in 23 contests. Over the course of the season, she reached the double-digit scoring mark on two occasions, including a career-high 12 points, which came in a Senior Day performance against Brevard. In the clash with the Tornados, Atkins finished 5-of-6 from the floor, including a 3-pointer, over 26 minutes of play.
Atkins reached double figure scoring in the fourth game of the season when she tallied 10 points against Mary Washington, hitting four field goals and finishing a perfect 2-for-2 at the free throw line on November 20th.
The Dobson, N.C., native grabbed the fourth-most rebounds on the team in 2022-23. She pulled down at least five rebounds on nine occasions. Atkins' best single-game performance came in a non-conference clash with Ferrum on December 30th, where she climbed the glass for 10 boards (five offensive).
