Munn Earns USA South Player of the Week Honors

ROME, Ga. – Senior guard Alize Munn capped off an impressive three-game stretch where she scored 68 points and grabbed 33 rebounds by earning USA South Player of the Week honors in an announcement from the league office on Monday, November 20th.

Munn was instrumental in helping the Spirits start a season 3-0 for the first time in program history, hitting 29-of-49 (59.2%) from the floor and 10-of-12 (83.3%) at the charity stripe. She also climbed the glass for 33 rebounds, including 15 offensive boards, while forcing 10 steals and finishing with two blocked shots.

The El Paso, Texas, native began the 2023-24 season with a 24-point, nine-rebound performance against Warren Wilson. Munn, who was one point shy of her career high, converted 11-of-18 field goals (61.1%) and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She also grabbed six of her nine rebounds on the offensive glass and forced five steals in the six-point victory.

Munn and the Spirits traveled to Roanoke, Va., for a two-day tournament at Hollins. In the first game of the All-Women's Tip-Off Tournament, against Trinity (D.C.), she emerged with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Munn converted 6-of-15 from the floor, along with 5-of-6 at the free throw line, while snagging eight of her 14 rebounds on the defensive glass. Defensively, she forced four steals and handed out two assists.

Munn followed up that performance with a career-high 27 points in Salem's dominating 72-54 victory over Agnes Scott. The senior guard converted 12-of-16 field goals (75%) and 3-of-4 free throws in the process, leading the way for a starting five unit that accounted for 59 points and 23 of the team's 29 field goals. She completed her second double-double of the season with 10 rebounds, while dishing out four assists and forcing one steal.

It marks the second time that Munn has received recognition in her career from the conference after being named USA South Rookie of the Week on February 14, 2022. Munn joins teammate Dionne Sampson as the only individuals in program history to receive USA South Player of the Week honors. Sampson was the first, receiving the accolade on February 13, 2023.
