Salem Swimming Hosts Ferrum for First-Ever Meet

The Salem swim team wrapped up its two-day stint at the William Peace Invitational on November 19th with a pair of Top-50 performances by teammates Scarlett Urbaez (37th) and Kylie Clark (38th).

Urbaez posted the top finish of the event for Salem in the 500 freestyle, after touching the wall in a time of 9:46.14.

Clark earned her 38th-place finish in the 50 freestyle, which included all three Salem participants. Clark touched the wall in 36.69, while Urbaez posted a 54th-place finish in 37.52. Elenaore Regenthal was third on the Salem team, finishing 56th, with a mark of 41.80.

FERRUM VISITS WINSTON-SALEM

Ferrum will make its first-ever trip to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Salem this weekend.

The Panthers have never taken part in a dual with Salem in program history.

This weekend's meet with feature 14 races, beginning with the 200 medley relay at 2 p.m.

CLARK ENTERS WEEKEND WITH SEVEN TOP-3 FINISHES
After earning three Top-3 finishes in the season-opener with Greensboro, Kylie Clark has now notched seven Top-3 finishes in her collegiate swimming career.

Clark posted four Top-3 finishes over the course of the 2021-22 season, her first at Salem. The first time that the Annandale, Virginia, native touched the wall among the first three competitors was on January 29, 2022, in a dual that included Greensboro, St. Andrew's, Warren Wilson and Piedmont. That came when she posted a time of 4:16.44 in the 200 backstroke.

Her second third-place finish came on February 2, 2022 at the Pfeiffer Dual, when she posted a time of 1:48.93 in the 100 backstroke.

Clark placed first in both the 100 backstroke (1:50.81) and 50 freestyle (42.72) at the Mount Vernon Nazarene Dual on February 3, 2022.

PREVIEWING THE OPPOSITION

This weekend marks the sixth meet of the 2022-23 campaign for Ferrum and the final of the calendar year. The Panthers began their season at the Guilford Invitational on October 1st and made a quick return to the pool to take part in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Relays the following week in Lexington, Va.

Ferrum then had a four-week break in its schedule, returning to action in a dual with Sweet Briar and Virginia Wesleyan, in Sweet Briar, Va., on November 5th. The Panthers then made their first out of state venture, making the trek to Cary, N.C., to participate in the Pacer Invitational on November 18-19.
