WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Salem swim team wrapped up its first home meet of the 2022-23 season with a setback to Ferrum (250-156), with senior Kylie Clark leading the way as she collected three Top-3 finishes, giving her 10 in her Spirits' career.

Clark began her afternoon by competing in the 1000 freestyle, becoming the first Spirit to swim the event since Allison Wakefield on October 30, 2021, posting a time of 19:37.11. Clark is just the fourth different Salem swimmer in program history to attempt the 1000 freestyle, joining Rachel Fichthorn, Kristi Moe and the aforementioned Wakefield to compete in the event. Fichthorn owns the program record (12:25.08) in the 1000 freestyle, setting the mark in an event that pitted Salem against Agnes Scott, Greensboro and Sweet Briar on February 5, 2008.

Eleanore Regenthal and Scarlett Urbaez finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 freestyle event. Regenthal claimed her first collegiate first place of her career with a time of 3:37.18, while Urbaez completed the event in 3:47.35.

Regenthal then took part in the 50 freestyle, closing fourth with a mark of 40.76.

Clark returned to action in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall first with a time of 1:35.63, edging out Urbaez, who finished second in 1:38.75.

Regenthal and Clark finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 backstroke race. Regenthal reached the wall in 3:59.17, while Clark's time was logged at 4:15.03.

Urbaez closed out the event for the Spirits with a second-place showing in the 500 freestyle after tapping the wall at 10:47.89.
