WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem tennis team begins a three-match, eight-day stretch on Saturday, March 26th, when it heads to Danville, Va., for a 2 p.m. clash with USA South Conference rival Averett.

The Spirits will clash with Averett for the final time as a USA South Conference member, with the Cougars moving to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at season's end. Salem will embark on a three-match in eight-day stretch that includes clashes at Southern Virginia (March 30) and the league home opener versus Methodist on April 2nd.

SPIRITS IN LEAGUE OPENERS: Salem enters the weekend with a 5-4 record in conference openers since the induction of the program in 2008-09. Three of those wins in league play came for the Spirits in the Great South Athletic Conference, which Salem competed in from 2012 until 2017.

After the Wildcats received a default point from No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Gilley and Rice evened the score at one with a decisive 8-0 victory over fellow No. 1 doubles Hannah Stokes and Miranda Montes.

Johnson & Wales closed out doubles play with an 8-3 victory by Eboni Montague and Maira Teurel, who triumphed over Alyson Gammons and Alyssa Cosentino.
