FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Taking part in its second match in a four-day stretch, Salem was unable to carry over the momentum from a 7-1 victory over Ferrum on Friday afternoon, suffering a 9-0 setback at Methodist on Saturday, March 25th at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

Methodist claimed its first of three doubles points when Luciana Forma and Hannah Higgins won by default in No. 3 action. Kamdyn Balko and Cailin Cifra moved the margin to 2-0 for the Monarchs with a 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles against Alyson Gammons and Ashley Linden. Sydney Bird and Veva Willocks were responsible for the third point with a 6-0 victory against the Salem pair of Abrielle Eckenroth and Jasmine Scott in No. 2 doubles.

Fourth seeded Valeria Matute picked up the first Methodist singles win (6-0, 6-0) with a victory over Linden. Megan Kidd secured the team victory for the Monarchs by virtue of a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles action against Gammons.

The Monarchs rolled off their sixth win in No. 2 singles with Cifra posting a 6-0, 6-1 win over Emily Griffis. Melody Luke followed up that with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Scott, who was making her collegiate debut for Salem in the match.

Tori Laney stretched the Methodist margin to 8-0 following a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Cadence Durham in the clash of No. 1 singles. Teammate Erin Mines completed the scoreless win for the Monarchs by posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over Eckenroth in No. 5 singles.
