Eckenroth Delivers Third Singles Victory in Two-Set Triumph

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Salem first-year Abrielle Eckenroth claimed her third singles win of the season, second in as many matches, with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Southern Virginia's Clara Seamons when the two teams clashed at the Bert Lain Tennis Center for the fifth time in program history.

Eckenroth was responsible for the lone point for the Spirits, who suffered an 8-1 setback to league rival Southern Virginia when the two units met in Winston-Salem. Eckenroth teamed with Alyson Gammons for No. 3 doubles, but the unit suffered an 8-0 setback to Grace Howell and Beth Liddicoat in the first match of the day.

Paula Snelson and Jillian Arnold put the second Southern Virginia point on the board with an 8-2 victory in No. 1 doubles against Alana Bridges and Emily Griffis. The Knights established a 3-0 advantage in the match after Nadia Molanphy and Campbell Bueler claimed an 8-4 victory against Cadence Durham and Ashley Linden.

Bueler picked up her second win of the afternoon in No. 2 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Griffis. Snelson triumphed in No. 1 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 margin against Durham to secure the team victory for the Knights.

Molanphy stretched the Southern Virginia lead to 6-0 after claiming a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gammons in No. 4 singles. The seventh point for the Knights came from Howell, who in No. 5 singles posted a 6-3, 6-0 win against Linden.

Southern Virginia's final point of the afternoon came by virtue of a victory from Arnold, who emerged with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bridges in the meeting of No. 3 singles.
