ROME, Ga. – Salem senior Alyson Gammons was named as a member of the 2023 USA South Conference All-Sportsmanship Tennis Team in an announcement from the league office on April 26, 2023.
In her two seasons as a member of the Salem tennis program, Gammons has won 11 singles matches and eight doubles matches. Gammons won six of those singles matches over the course of the 2022-23 campaign, finishing with the second-most singles wins on the team this year, behind only Alana Bridges' seven singles victories.
Gammons was paired with five different doubles partners in 2023, combining for six wins along the way. She collected three of those wins beside Ashley Linden, two alongside Haley Gilley and one with Abrielle Eckenroth.
Gammons opened the season with three straight singles wins, which came against Charlie Miller (Hollins), Cyrus Lichenstein (Agnes Scott) and Emily Mahood (Ferrum). She claimed her fourth singles win in March in a clash with Katlyn Bliss (William Peace) in straight sets. The Ridgeway, Va., native closed out the season with two wins in her final three matches against Hannah Stokes (Johnson & Wales) and Michaela McIntyre (Greensboro), also in straight sets.
In March, alongside both Gilley and Linden, she claimed doubles victories with both Gilley (Agnes Scott) and Linden (Ferrum). Her second win of the season with Linden came at the end of March against William Peace. Eckenroth and Linden grabbed an 8-2 victory over Meredith in April 11, and closed out the final two wins of the season against Johnson & Wales and Greensboro alongside teammates Linden and Gilley.
Gammons joins Lindsay Young (2017), Abigail Williams (2018), Alyssa Cosentino (2019) and Haley Gilley (2022) as previous winners off the award.
