PREVIEWING THE QUAD MATCH

SALEM (0-9, 0-3 USA South): The Spirits opened the USA South play on September 21st, forcing a five-set match with Pfeiffer. Four days later, in Rocky Mount, N.C., Salem clashed with N.C. Wesleyan and Greensboro, who won by scores 3-1 and 3-0.

Offensively, Salem is led by the duo of Valeria Rosa Lopez (134 kills) and Brooklyn Snow (74), while teammate Brianna Moore has handed out a team-best 216 assists. Lopez has also made her impact felt in the service game with a team-best 12 service aces, while Snow is second with six service aces.

Lopez also leads the Spirits with 168 digs, one of four players on the back row with at least 65 digs along with Macy Nelson (104), Snow (84) and Moore (69). Meanwhile, Laken Edwards has notched a team-high 14 total blocks (12 assisted), while Taylor Alleyne (13 total blocks) and Snow (11 total blocks) have also reached double-digit blocks on the season.

MARY BALDWIN (4-14, 0-7 USA South): Mary Baldwin has dropped its last eight matches of the season since completing a 3-1 victory over Virginia Union on September 18th.

Rachel Christian and Sydney Clarke, who have 151 and 150 kills, respectively, are the primary sources of offense for the Fighting Squirrels. Kate Rudolph leads the way in assists (292) at a clip of 5.03 assists/set. Teammate Alexis Edmonds is one of three Mary Baldwin players with at least 20 service aces, leading the unit with 27.

The back row duo of Soleil Rios Rolon (191) and Christian (144) are the only Fighting Squirrels to eclipse 100 digs on the slate, while Megan Andrews' 20 blocks (seven solo) is tops among front row defenders.

PFEIFFER (13-5, 4-3 USA South): The Falcons have split their last four matches, winning their most recent match against N.C. Wesleyan by a 3-1 margin. That victory snapped a two-match losing skid that included setbacks against both Meredith (3-1) and Greensboro (3-2) in a tri-match at Greensboro's Hanes Gymnasium.

A well-balanced Pfeiffer offense has six players with at least 100 kills, including Morgan Shrader, who leads the way with 161. Madison Honeycutt is second on the team with 137 kills and Anya Parker is third on the unit with 127. Kylee Mayberry has handed out 403 assists (5.52 assists/set), helping the Falcons to a 11.82 kills/set as a unit.

On defense, Pfeiffer has amassed 1,021 digs, keyed by Emma Gray Beacham who leads the way with 270. Mattie Burris (64 total blocks) and Reagan Wyatt (61) have stonewalled opposing hitters and lead the way for a Falcon unit that has 134 total blocks.

SOUTHERN VIRGINIA (14-3, 6-1 USA South): The newest addition to the USA South Conference, Southern Virginia, has won three straight and nine of its last 10 matches. The three most recent victories have come against N.C. Wesleyan, Methodist and Mary Baldwin, all by 3-0 margins. The only setback for Southern Virginia, since September 16, came to Averett by a 3-1 decision.

Courtney Pinkston leads all Southern Virginia hitters with 217 kills (3.68 kills/set), while Sydney Hopkin is second on the unit with 146. The primary setter for Southern Virginia, Elle Warnick, has delivered 566 assists (9.59 assists/set) for a unit that has a combined 671 assists.

On defense, Emma Steiger (299 digs) and Pinkston (138) highlight the back row, while Katelyn Chamberlain (47) and Taryn Kartchner (43) have anchored the front row in total blocks.
