Sizemore Named to USA South All-Sportsmanship Volleyball Team

ROME, Ga. – The USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school who their coach felt displayed the best sportsmanship this season. First-year right side hitter Nikita Sizemore was selected as the representative from Salem.

Sizemore played in 19 matches (64 sets) for Salem over the course of the season. She capped her first season with 66 kills (1.03 kills/set), converted 63 digs (0.98 digs/set) and was responsible for two service aces. Sizemore also made seven blocks, all assisted, for the Spirits.

The Yadkinville, N.C., native notched at least five kills on four occasions, setting a single-match season-high (eight) in a five-set victory over Mary Baldwin on October 30th. Active as a back row defender, Sizemore also recorded at least five digs in five matches. Her single-match season-high in digs (14) came in a clash with the Fighting Squirrels on October 9th. She reached double-digit digs on one other occasion, on October 28 at William Peace, where she finished with 10.

The USA South Athletic Conference announced its 2021 All-Conference awards for volleyball in the announcement. Individually, the Southern Virginia duo of Courtney Pinkston and Sydney Hopkin were named Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, respectively, while Berea's Fabiana De Jesus earned Libero of the Year honors and Maryville's Kandis Schram collected Coach of the Year accolades.

All awards were voted on by the volleyball coach at each institution. The divisional team voting is completed only by those coaches in the particular division. The all-conference and individual award voting was completed by all coaches.
