WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Despite an 18-save effort in net by Salem's first-year goalkeeper Marissa Doutrich, who was four off her single-match season-high, Brevard earned its second USA South Conference win of the slate with a 4-0 decision over the Spirits at Varsity Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tornados finished the match with 45 shots, including 22 shots on goal, while Salem countered with eight shots (two shots on goal). Ten Tornados had at least two shots in the contest, including Rachael Trifoli, who recorded a team-best nine (two shots on goal). Teammate Camdyn Pacheco was also active on the offensive end with six shots, including five shots on goal.

Darilyn Nieto, who gutted her way through a knee injury for the duration of the match, led all Salem offensive performers with four shots (two shots on goal). Meanwhile, Mireya Sanchez, Sky Skyes, Giselle Ramos and Serenity Powell had one shot each.

Doutrich made six saves in the first half before posting 12 more in the second half to come through with 18 for the Spirits. The 18 saves are third-most in a match in program history. Brevard attempted 21 shots in the opening half and posted 24 after the intermission, while Salem had five shots in the first and three in the second.

The Tornados' offense notched its first goal inside the first two minutes when Abby Mayer drove home an unassisted pass after the ball ricocheted off a Salem defender. Teammate Grace Black provided Brevard with a 2-0 lead in the 13th-minute on an unassisted goal of her own.

The lead grew to 3-0 in the 32nd-minute of play, following a strike from Hilary Schmitz, and Channing Baker put the fourth goal of the match on the scoreboard 11 minutes later.
