Student-Athlete Insights with CoCo

These days, I think it can be really easy to wake up, sit at your screen, do your work, and jump back into your bed that just so happens to be less than 5 feet away. There's not much variation in the human interaction you get except for maybe a conversation with your parents, a sibling, or your pet. I'm sure at one point or another during the semester you might have stayed up too late, or gone way too many days without having a good night's rest and began scrolling through social media. Then you find that one post just makes you laugh so hard you cry. It probably didn't even make sense as to why it was so funny, it just was.

I've had a few nights like those before where every post I looked at was hilarious. Then, once I stopped laughing, I would laugh even more realizing how insane I must be to be laughing at some meme someone posted about science that nobody would understand except if you were a science major.

Then, there's a moment of clarity. My chest feels lighter, my eyes are a little wider, and the corners of your mouth feel a little stretched in comparison to its normal frowning position. I've probably laughed for the first time in what feels like ages. It's insane to me that I've had so little human interaction that I forget what it feels like to really laugh.

This is just a reminder to anyone reading to remember to laugh and to have fun. We're in the midst of a global pandemic, but that doesn't mean we can't stop for a few moments to talk to a friend or laugh at a funny joke. Find yourself a good netflix comedy, sit down, and laugh. You only get this one life, you should use it to laugh. Otherwise, what are we REALLY here for? To work until we die? If that's the case, you should get into contact with me. I bet I can get you to laugh until you cry.
