Salem Athletics "Throws" Out Offer to Make Impact in Forsyth County

SALEM CIRCUIT DAY FORM (MUST BE COMPLETED BY 8 P.M. MONDAY, APRIL 5TH TO ATTEND)

There is always something great about wrapping up a day in the spring or summer with a nice piece of refreshing pie. The types of pie that you enjoy vary from pecan, apple, key lime or cherry, because the list is endless. However, the one type of pie that you don't want to have is the one that HITS YOU IN THE FACE!!!!

The pie in the face or "pieing" as it is commonly referred to, dates back to the early 1900s in multiple comedy routines. It appeared on stage in the music hall sketches of the English theatre impresario Fred Karno and was first seen in film in the 1909 Essanay Studios silent film Mr. Flip starring Ben Turpin.

It will hopefully be making an appearance this weekend at the Salem College Circuit Day, while helping out a local cause.

To kick start the NCAA's annual Why D3 Week, the Salem College Department of Athletics is conducting a fundraiser with money raised going toward Family Services of Forsyth County (https://familyservicesforsyth.org/). Student-athletes are encouraged to send money to their SAAC reps and for every $50 raised a coach will receive a "pie in the face."

HOW TO MAKE YOUR DONATION: Salem College athletics is accepting donations by using Venmo @kayla6ogle for as little as $1.

WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING: Family Services of Forsyth County, and you can visit their website at: https://familyservicesforsyth.org

WANT TO SEE THE COACH GET A "PIE IN THE FACE" IN PERSON: Our Saturday, April 10th Circuit event will allow all student-athletes to attended, but you MUST COMPLETE A FORM. Registration needs to happen by Monday at 8 p.m.. Student athletes are required to complete the attached agreement.
