Salem Through My Eyes
“… I’m reminded of something my supervisor said to me when I was a student chaplain: “Don’t just do something. Stand there.” — John Green, The Anthropocene Reviewed

We are mostly driven and encouraged to do, do, do! I encourage you to also spend time listening, reflecting, and just being. There is something revolutionary and rebellious about the work of being still. There is also something vital about it.

Between the active engagements and academic rigors of life on campus, Salem makes the act of “just being” quite rewarding. When you take a moment to stand still on the Salem Campus, you are guaranteed to find beauty: A bee or butterfly perched on a flower, the fish in the pond nibbling someone’s fingertips, the ferns sporulating under the canopy of trees, the comforting smell of the refractory meal, a glimpse of a celebration, and a glance of a supportive hug.

Coming from years in cooperate and government institutions, I hope to never stop tuning into the feelings of peace and comfort I have on campus nor take for granted the care I receive from the community here.

Fun Facts
Likes to spend my free time moving in nature: running, mountain biking and now mostly walking slowly with a toddler collecting treasures and saying “hi” to squirrels and airplanes.
