Teana Lewis joined the Salem basketball staff during the summer of 2023 and will serve as an assistant coach to Sharee Boyd.

In 2023-24, Lewis' first at Salem, she teamed with head coach Sharee' Boyd to deliver the first 5-0 start to open a campaign in program history, which included wins over Warren Wilson, Trinity (D.C.), Agnes Scott, Meredith and Bob Jones.  

Lewis was the graduate assistant St. Andrews University from 2022-23, focusing her attention on individual player development. Among those that she worked with while a member of the Knights’ coaching staff was Makayla Salliey, who earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in 2022-23.

Lewis also notched her first collegiate head coaching victory, which came against Brenau University on December 3, 2022. In that contest, which the Knights captured 76-74, Lewis served as the interim head coach for Shareka Maner, who missed the game due to personal reasons.

Lewis continued her basketball career at Louisburg College after graduating from New Bern High School. While there, Lewis was a four-year varsity starter on varsity, earning All-Conference accolades in each of her four seasons. In 2016, Lewis was named Sun Journal Player of the Year, earning a spot on the All-Star Classic team. She capped off her prep career by scoring over 1,400 career points, lead her team to the 2016 East Carolina 3A/4A Conference Tournament Championship and an appearance in the third round of the 2016 North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs.

At Louisburg College, Lewis started 25 of 28 games as a freshman. While averaging 44 minutes per game and leading her team to a 26-6 mark, while averaging 11.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. Her best individual performance came against Wake Tech Community College, where she finished with 27 points in a victory at the Region X Tournament.

Lewis followed up a solid freshman season by starting 20 games where she averaged 14.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. The Hurricanes closed that season with a 23-5 mark, ending the campaign with a 79-75 loss to Cape Fear Community College in the Region X Tournament Championship game. At the conclusion of the season, Lewis was named as an All-Region performer.

After completing her associates degree from Louisburg College in 2018, Lewis transferred to Johnson C. Smith, where she played for the 2018-2019 season. She received her bachelors of arts degree in communications in 2021.

After graduating from Johnson C. Smith, Lewis spent one year as an assistant coach for girls’ basketball program at High Point Central High School (2021-22). She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Education program at St. Andrews University and upon graduation hopes to continue to pursue her passions of educating and coaching basketball.
