Hobbton High's Bass commits to play softball at Salem

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball program is excited to announce that Amber Bass committed to attend Salem next fall. Bass played for Coach Joel Clarke at Hobbton High School in Clinton, NC. The Spirits softball team will begin a full schedule including Great South Athletic Conference play during the 2011-2012 school year.

Bass was the 2010 Sampson County Co-Player of the Year. She was a first team all-conference selection as a junior, and a second team all-conference member as a sophomore. Bass also competed for the 2010 Powerade State Games team, which earned a silver medal. Bass plays club softball for Coach Keith Edgerton with the Carolina Hurricanes Elite 2010.

She is also highly involved in academics and school clubs at Hobbton. Bass is a member of the Beta Club and also in the top ten of her class. She is the Vice President for the FBLA, and she won a Character Word of Mouth Award for Responsibility and Sportsmanship. She is the daughter of Joy and Sherrill Bass.

Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772. The institution boasts a proud history of fostering independence in women. Salem has been ranked in the top 100 in Forbes magazines annual ranking of America's 600 best colleges, and in their "America's Best College Buys" Top 100.
