Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball program is pleased to announce that Kayla Kennedy has committed to attend Salem next fall. Kennedy was a five-year varsity member for Coach Roger Longwell and Coach Jerry Forbis, Jr. at Wayne Christian High School in Goldsboro, NC. The Spirits softball team will begin a full schedule including Great South Athletic Conference play during the 2011-2012 school year.

Kennedy received News-Argus All-Area Honorable Mention recognition in 2010. She was also selected as a CCC Conference All-Tournament Team member in 2009 and 2010, and received the Coach's Award the same years. She was a News-Argus All-Area Second Team selection in 2009. Kennedy was a member of the NCISAA State Softball Championship team in 2007 and 2008 at Wayne Christian.

Kennedy played ten years of club softball. She most recently played for Coach Curt Hinton for the Stingerz Elite in 2011, and for Coach Greg Pittman with the Wayne County Blue Breeze in 2009-2010.

She has been involved in several extracurricular and academic activities at Wayne Christian. Kennedy received an achievement award at WCHS, and received the ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student Award. She is the daughter of Debbie and Curtis Kennedy.
