Coleman, Garner win GSAC Softball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletics Conference announced the spring sports Players of the Week for contests played March 3 - 9 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Salem's Morgan Coleman won Pitcher of the Week while teammate Kierston Garner earned Player of the Week.

GSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week - Morgan Coleman of Salem

Morgan Coleman (pictured at right) pitched an outstanding game on Sunday as she pitched Salem's second recorded No Hitter in the history of the program. Coleman went 5 innings allowing no runs and struck out 14 and walked 4. She also contributed at the plate as well going 4 for 6 at the plate batting .667. Coleman's slugging percentage was a 1.667 and On base percentage was .400.  She hit 2 doubles, 2 Triples, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI's with no strike outs.

GSAC Softball Player of the of the Week - Kierston Garner of Salem

Senior Kierston Garner of Salem College went 5 for 5 at the plate batting 1.000 in two games.  Garner had 7at bats, including 1 triple 2 doubles, 1 single, walked twice, scoring 2 runs and delivering 4 RBI's. Garner's On Base percentage was 1.000 and her Slugging percentage was 1.800 for the weekend.  She also had an error free weekend in the field.



The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
