Softball goes 3-2 at Great South Tournament

Decatur, GA-The Salem softball team went 3-2 at the Great South Tournament this weekend, but they were eliminated by Finlandia with two heartbreaking losses. In tonight's game with a berth in the championship on the line, Finlandia held off Salem 4-3. Salem finishes the season with a 17-20 overall record and 9-4 against Great South opponents.

Salem kicked off the tournament yesterday with a 15-0 rout of Rust. They then lost 10-9 to Finlandia yesterday afternoon. Finlandia jumped out to a 10-1 lead, and Salem had a spirited comeback the last two innings. Salem came all the way back to 10-9 before the final out.

The Spirits won easily twice today with 8-0 and 13-3 routs of Pine Manor and Wesleyan. Finlandia lost to Agnes Scott, setting up tonight's game. Salem outscored their opponents 48-17 this weekend. Finlandia will have to defeat Agnes Scott twice tomorrow in the championship round.
