Softball losses two against William Peace

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team lost two games against William Peace today at home. The Pacers won game one (9-3) and game two (10-2). Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) and Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) led the Spirits with 3 hits for the day. Salem falls to 7-15, while Peace improves to 16-20.

The Pacers were able to jump out to early leads in both games. They went up 9-0 in game one after four innings, before Salem's bats came alive in the bottom of the 4th. Game 2 was tight through the first three innings with the scored 4-2. Peace was able to add 6 runs in the top of the 4th to take a 10-2 lead.

Bass had a double in game 2. She also led the team with 2 runs. Morgan Coleman (Colfax, NC) and Lauryn Smith (King, NC) each had 2 runs batted in for the day. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) and Coleman finished with 2 hits. Smith was the losing pitcher of the 1st game, and Coleman was the losing pitcher of Game 2. 

Salem will play the senior games for Morton, Emily Devane (Lillington, NC) and Kaitlyn Horner (Elkhart, IN) tomorrow against Wesleyan at 1 and 3.
