Softball split with Agnes Scott on the road

Decatur, GA-The Great South Regular Season Softball Title will come down to a doubleheader at Salem, between the Spirits and Agnes Scott. The 2 teams split 2 games in Georgia to stay tied atop the GSAC standings going into the final week of play. In a tale of 2 different games, Salem won 8-3 in game 1, while the Scotties won 10-2 in game 2. Salem improves to 11-17, while Agnes Scott is now 19-17.

Salem cruised to a 5-0 and then 8-1 lead in game 1. Lauryn Smith (King, NC) had a great game on the mound. She gave up 8 hits and 3 runs in 7 innings pitched. Game 2 was tied at 2 until Agnes Scott scored 8 in the bottom of the 5th.

Kayla Kennedy (Goldsboro, NC) led the Spirits with 3 hits during the 2 games. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) and Morgan Coleman (Colfax, NC) each had 2 hits. Kennedy and Coleman had 2 runs apiece to lead Salem, while Coleman led the team with 4 runs batted in. Morton added 3 runs batted in for the day. Coleman hit a home run in each game, and Morton hit a homer in Game 1.
