Softball splits two exciting games with Agnes Scott

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team concluded 2014 Great South conference play with a home split against Agnes Scott. Lauryn Smith (King, NC) continued her dominant pitching in a 6-3 Salem win in game one, while Agnes Scott took game two, 5-3. Salem is now 6-2 in the GSAC and 14-18 overall, while Agnes Scott is 6-2 and 20-20.

Smith only allowed 9 hits and 2 earned runs in 7 complete innings on the mound in game 1. She also hit a triple in game 2.

Morgan Coleman (Colfax, NC) went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate in game 1. Kierston Garner (Danbury, NC) belted a home-run in the 1st inning to give Salem a 2-0 lead. Garner finished 2 for 2 in game 1 with 2 runs and 3 runs batted in. Allie Watkins (Locust, NC) went 2 for 3 in the 1st game.

Coleman, Watkins, and Smith all pitched in game 2. Amber Bass (Clinton, NC) went 2 for 3 in game 2, while Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) went 2 for 4.
