Softball falls at home to Agnes Scott

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College softball team fell at home in 2 close games with Great South rival Agnes Scott. The Scotties came from behind to win 6-4 in game 1, and won 3-1 in game 2. Breanna Morris led the Spirits with 2 hits and 2 runs batted in. Salem falls to 15-14-2 overall and 1-4 in the Great South.

Lauryn Smith pitched 9 innings today and gave up 4 earned runs on 12 hits. Morris pitched 5 innings and gave up 0 earned runs on 3 hits.

Salem fell behind in the top of the 1st inning 2-0, but tied it up in the bottom of the inning. They would go ahead 4-2 in the bottom of the 2nd. Agnes Scott scored 4 runs in the top of the 5th for the win.

In game 2, Agnes Scott held Salem to 4 hits. The Scotties took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. They added a run in the 5th. Britani Peterson jacked a home-run in the bottom of the 6th to close the gap, but the Spirits couldn't score after that run.

The Spirits will play 3 games to try to earn 2nd place in the conference tomorrow against Wesleyan at 3:00, 5:00, and 7:00. It will also be the senior game for Kayla Kennedy and Amber Bass.
