Knoxville, TN-The Salem College basketball team played against their toughest opponent of the season as they traveled to take on Maryville College in Tennessee. Maryville is currently ranked 13th in the country in NCAA DIII. The Scots exploded to a large lead in the second quarter as they went on to win 91-50. Salem falls to 3-14, while Maryville improves to 13-2. 

Quntashea Lewis and Sabrina Shepherd each finished with 17 points to lead Salem. Lewis led the Spirits with 7 rebounds, while Mikayla Seivers and Tamara Blanton each had 3 assists to lead the team. 

Maryville jumped out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter and expanded their lead to 45-17 at the half. The Spirits had their best quarter in the third quarter as it was 22-16 in favor of Maryville in the quarter. 

The Spirits will try to even the series with Warren Wilson when they host them on February 4th at 7:00.
