Allen Nets Lone Salem Goal In Setback at Southern Virginia

BRISTOL, Va. – The Southern Virginia trio of Alissa Johnson, Natalie Rice and Hannah King netted three goals apiece, while Salem received one goal from first year Danielle Allen, as the host Knights posted a 19-1 victory over Salem in lacrosse action on Friday, Feb. 28 in Bristol, Va.

Southern Virginia scored 15 unanswered goals to open the game, taking a 15-1 lead into the intermission following the Allen goal at the 1:55 mark. The Knights received nine of their 15 first half goals from the trio of Johnson, Rice and King.

Southern Virginia also received two goals each from Sydney Sewell, Chloe Mitchell. Madilyn Pedrosa capped off the game with two saves, while Salem's Hannah Ostlund closed with nine saves.

The Spirits return to action on Sunday, March 1, when Salem will host Sweet Briar at Varsity Field at 1 p.m. For more information on Salem lacrosse check out www.salemspirits.com.
