Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College soccer program is excited to announce the addition of Ashley Cabral to the coaching staff. Cabral, a former standout at Greensboro College, will begin working for the program as the head assistant immediately. Her duties will include recruiting student athletes, planning and running practices, and assisting with camps.

Head Coach Jay Callahan says "I am very excited to have Ashley join the program. She had an excellent career as a top notch division III soccer player at Greensboro. I have also coached against her club team, and know that she is a very positive and vocal coach. I think she will be a great role model for our young program. She knows how to succeed as a DIII athlete, and I am sure she will help us reach our goals as a team."

During her senior year, Cabral led the USA South Conference in both points and goals, and helped Greensboro to a 14-4-1 record.  She was named USA South Player of the Year (the first ever Greensboro College female soccer player to receive the award).  In addition, she was named to the USA South First-Team, USA South All-Tournament Team, NCCSIA All-State Team and Greensboro's Offensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row.  Cabral was also picked for the NSCAA All-South Region third team and D3kicks.com first team All-Region. She set a Greensboro single season record for most goals, points and game-winning goals, with 26 goals, 5 assists, 57 total point and 6 game-winning goals in only 19 games. She was second in the nation for goals and third for points. Cabral leads the Greensboro career record books for most game-winning goals, 9, and most minutes played, 4703 minutes. She ended her career with 109 points (47 goals, 15 assists), which places her second all-time at Greensboro College.

Cabral is currently coaching in the Piedmont Triad Football Club for a U-13 girl's classic team.  She has worked soccer camps for GYS, GUS, Dynamites, UNC Chapel-Hill and Greensboro College.  She was also a volunteer coach for the YMCA and the Dynamites. For the past 4 years she has coordinated with coaches like Franco Bari and Tracy Ducar to run camps and individual training sessions for girls, boys and coed teams. In addition, Ashley works at Proehlific Park Youth Sports Complex where she is the soccer coordinator and does individual training for all players.
