Salem Defeats Huntingdon to Stay Undefeated!

Winston-Salem, NC- Salem College hosted Huntingdon College Sunday afternoon in a non-conference soccer game at Blixt Field. Despite the 90 degree heat and bright sun, the Spirits won their 11th straight soccer game of 2007 by the score of 5-0.

The Salem Spirits (11-0-1) out shot Huntingdon College (3-7-1) by a 30-3 margin. Liz Clem (FY, Merced, CA) started the scoring with an unassisted goal at 4:09. Megan Harrington (FY, Jacksonville, NC) made it 2-0 at 24:24 off an assist from Tori Collier (So., Raleigh, NC). Salem led at the half 2-0.

In the second half, Collier scored her first of two goals at 60:11 from an assist from Liz Clem. Amber Bryant (FY, Jonesville, NC) quickly scored at 63:59 as Collier assisted her. At 87:55, Collier finished the scoring off an assist by Megan Harrington (FY, Jacksonville, NC) as Salem won 5-0.

Andrea Baldwin (FY, Hudson, NC) and Brittany Tedrick (FY, Bativia, OH) teamed up for the shutout. Huntingdon’s goalkeeper Bethany Bush was credited with 9 saves.
