September 25, 2007- Salem College’s Courtney Sauer was selected to the D3Kicks.com Soccer Team of the Week. To deserve this award, Courtney Sauer led Salem's defense to two shutouts against Trinity and Gallaudet in D.C. this past weekend. The 8-0-1 Spirits beat Trinity College of D.C. 4-0 on 9/22, and Gallaudet University 9-0 on 9/23. Sauer, a first-year central defender from Carthage, N.C., had the assist on the game winning goal versus Trinity. She also scored off a corner kick in that match. Sauer added her third goal of the season against Gallaudet. She has anchored Salem's defense to only allowing 7 goals in their first 9 games
