Olentangy Orange's Schmidt commits to play soccer at Salem

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer program is excited to announce the addition of Mackenzie Schmidt who committed to attend Salem next fall. Schmidt had a very successful career for Coach Jen Odebrecht at Olentangy Orange High School in Lewis Center, OH. She also played for Coach Mo Razack and Allen Green for Blast Football Club, which is based in Columbus, OH.

Schmidt tri-captained her high school for the 2009 season. She was a first team Ohio Capital Conference team member in 2008, and also a second team All-District member. Mackenzie was selected as a 2009 Central Ohio Soccer Coaches Association All-Star this past fall.

She also had a strong academic career at Olentangy Orange. Schmidt was a three-time scholar athlete from 2007-2009. She was the secretary for National Honor Society, a Pioneer Ambassador, in the French Club, and a gymnastics member as a senior.

While at Salem, Schmidt plans on double majoring in elementary education and non-profit management. She is the daughter of Teresa and Jay Schmidt.

Salem College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772.
