Soccer defeats College of Notre Dame in Salem Classic

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College soccer team defeated the College of Notre Dame 6-0 today in the 1st Annual Salem College Classic opener today. Kaitlyn Horner (Elkhart, IN) scored the game winning goal in the 33rd minute on an unassisted goal. Salem improves to 3-0-1 with the win. 

Salem would score four goals in the first 23 minutes of the second half to break the game open. Tia Bringhurst (Hurricane, UT) got the second half scoring started from an assist by Kim Wisen (Madison, OH). Tori Collier (Raleigh, NC) scored in the 55th minute and then assisted Tara Madden (Greenville, SC) in the 65th minute. Erica Edwards (Clayton, NC) finished a pass from Amy Allison (Geneva, OH) four minutes later. Sierra Presnell (Marion, NC) would score her first collegiate goal in the 88th minute. 

Jazmine Bridgeman (Mill Spring, NC) and the Salem defense got their third shutout in a row. Bridgeman finished with 4 saves, and Salem outshot Notre Dame 30-5. Bryn Mawr defeated Warren Wilson 2-1 in overtime in the second game. Warren Wilson will play Notre Dame tomorrow at noon, and Salem will meet Bryn Mawr at 2:00 for the Salem Classic Championship.
