Soccer earns impressive tie at Meredith

September 05, 2009

Raleigh, NC-The Salem College soccer team picked up their most impressive result in school soccer history with a 0-0 overtime draw at Meredith. Meredith was a 2008 NCAA Tournament participant, 2008 USA South Champions, and were recently selected as the preseason favorite in the USA South. Jazmine Bridgeman (Mill Spring, NC) had a school record 21 saves for the Spirits. The game was part of the 2009 Meredith College Matchup, and both teams are now 1-0-1.

Bridgeman was aided by a strong defensive performance anchored by Tatum Justice (Jacksonville, NC). Justice, Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC), Megan Lisle (Lawrenceville, GA), and Courtney Sauer (Carthage, NC) all worked hard throughout the 110 minutes to keep Meredith off of the scoresheet. Meredith had 21 shots on goal to 6 by Salem.

Salem will return to action in Raleigh tomorrow as they try to capture the Meredith Matchup Championship. They will play Peace at 3:00.
