Soccer loses final match of season in GSAC Semifinals

Maryville, NC-The Salem College soccer team fell in the Great South Athletic Conference semifinal match to eventual champion, Maryville College, 3-0. The Spirits hung with Maryville through the first 74 minutes, before Maryville scored two late goals to seal the win. Jazmine Bridgeman (Mill Spring, NC) came up big in goal for Salem with 14 saves. Salem ends the season with a 12-7-1 record.

Maryville scored in the 6th minute to take a 1-0 lead. They would take that lead into the half. Salem came out on the attack in the second half with a couple strong scoring opportunities. Their best scoring chance came on a corner kick by Kim Wisen (Madison, OH) midway through the second half. Tara Madden's (Greenville, SC) header off of the corner beat Maryville's keeper but was cleared off the line by a Maryville defender. Maryville would score their second and third goals in the 72nd and 76th minute.
