15 Soccer Players Earn GSAC End of Year Honors

DECATUR,Ga.- Gearing up for the Great South Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament, the GSAC is pleased to announce this year's women's soccer conference award winners. The winners will be honored during the tournament in LaGrange this weekend.

Salem had four players make the GSAC All-Conference team. Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC) and Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) each earned GSAC All-Conference honors for the 2nd year in a row. MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) and Erica Edwards (Clayton, NC) each earned All-Conference honors for the first time. 

The Spirits were represented on the GSAC All-Freshman team by two players. Nataly Mojica (Dallas, TX) and Taylor Norman (Springfield, VA), who are the Spirits 2 holding midfielders, were both named to the all-freshman team. Salem soccer had an impressive 12 players selected to the all-academic team, which you can read below.

Winning her first Player of the Year award is Ashley Howarth of Maryville. Howarth led the GSAC in eight categories including points per game (2.24), goals (13) and assists (12). Succeeding not only on the field but also in the classroom, she was named to the All-Academic team as well. Earning freshman of the year is Anna Hernandez from Agnes Scott.
